February 2010  Kiwibank was the main sponsor of the inaugural New Zealander of the Year Awards 2010, an exciting project the Core team enjoyed working on in late 2009 and early 2010. The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of individuals and communities across New Zealand, and acknowledge the inspirational influence their work has on society. Each step of the awards process saw Core manage and execute a nationwide media relations campaign, surrounding the announcement of semi-finalists, finalists and eventually, the winner. At each stage, Core organised interview access to entrants and successfully secured extensive media coverage across top tier print, broadcast and online media. Core was also present at the Gala Awards Presentation, facilitating media and coordinating photography of finalists and guests, including Prime Minister John Key. The prestigious event, hosted by broadcaster, Mike Hosking, was streamed live by television news teams and coverage of philanthropic scientist, Ray Avery’s win was carried in New Zealand and international media. Core continues to handle interview requests for Ray and is working with the organisers in planning the New Zealander of the Year Awards 2011. |
