Distinctive blue and white footbridge opens
19 May 2010
New FootbridgePedestrians and cyclists joined the NZ Transport Agency and Mayor John Banks to open the distinctive new blue and white Beachcroft Bridge across State Highway 20 (SH20) linking communities in Onehunga and Hillsborough.

This replaces the old bridge that was too low and in the construction path of the NZTA's Manukau Harbour Crossing motorway project.

The new 3.5m-wide, 65 m-long cable-stayed bridge upgrades access between Seacliffe Road in Hillsborough and Beachcroft Avenue in Onehunga, and is an essential community based component of the project.

The Core team was involved with the event management and handled media queries and photography on the day.

The Manukau Harbour Crossing project is expected to be completed by the end of August this year, seven months ahead of schedule.
